Marc Hélary, founder of Infornav
Born in 1973 in Rochefort-sur-Mer and based in La Rochelle, married and father of three, Marc Hélary has devoted his professional life to two closely connected worlds: risk management and maritime navigation.
At the age of just 19, he joined the Paris Fire Brigade, where he served for 15 years. This formative experience shaped a working method based on discipline, anticipation, rapid decision-making and strict adherence to safety procedures.
“When facing an emergency situation, you either know what to do or you don’t. There is no room for improvisation.”
Passionate about the sea, Marc naturally turned his career toward navigation and nautical training. From 2007 onwards, he held technical and pedagogical roles within sailing schools before embarking on a major family and maritime adventure that took him as far as New Caledonia.
Between 2008 and 2011, he sailed and managed large sailing yachts and catamarans, often in full autonomy, developing a high-level technical and human expertise.
Upon returning to La Rochelle, the vision became clear: to create a structure dedicated to supporting, training and securing navigation. Infornav was born.
A philosophy based on anticipation and autonomy
At Infornav, navigation is not limited to handling a boat. It means understanding, anticipating, deciding and acting methodically, both in normal conditions and in degraded or emergency situations.
The objective is clear: to make every sailor autonomous, confident and responsible, technically and psychologically prepared to face the sea.
