INFORNAV coastal pleasure licenses that are different and well adapted
The “safety” and “advanced training” boat licenses are Infornav specializations,
the goal being to better master the handling of a vessel and to address various
onboard safety issues.
These are topics that are not covered during the examination for the
coastal pleasure boat license,
commonly referred to as the “boat license”.
From a regulatory standpoint, the law requires, for obtaining a coastal pleasure boat license, two hours of practice at the helm of a boat.
These two hours at the helm of a vessel will be used to master the following topics:
- Leaving / entering a harbor
- Forward / reverse alignments
- Mooring to a buoy
- Anchoring maneuvers
- Recovering a person overboard
- …
But it must be acknowledged that two hours at the helm is very little to fully master the various topics covered, to gain real self-confidence, and to enable calmer and better-controlled navigation.
